Enjoy deep, restful sleep every night with our signature wool mattress. For complete breathability and greater longevity, we suggest that the wool mattress be placed on a wood slatted frame.
The mattress is most comfortable when used in combination with our Snuggle Mate Wool Topper. We also recommend the Cascade Latex Base beneath the wool mattress for those who prefer a softer bed.
Our All Wool Mattress will compress about 10% during the first 6 months of use. In order to ensure even compression, we recommend sleeping all over the mattress and rotating it on a regular basis. With proper care, this mattress will last for several decades.
Our pre-compressed All Wool Mattress is our most popular mattress option. Filled entirely with local Eco Wool and encased in a 100% wool textile, this 5″ mattress creates a resilient and supportive bed that will help you to experience deep, restorative sleep.
Wool mattresses benefit from layered bedding. Not only will extra layers of natural bedding extend the longevity of your mattress, it also allows an opportunity to customize your bed for your particular desire and needs.
Combine all three layers for our signature bed: 3″ wool topper + 5″ wool mattress + 3″ latex base. This is our most popular configuration.

incredibly well made…unparalleled comfort…worth every penny…you will wake up feeling refreshed every morning! i use it with a 3 inch latex mattress, topped by the incredible snuggle mate, and organic wool mattress protector…and wool pillows of course!…best sleep system ever….this is the best investment in your health and well being that you can make……

My mattress and bedding are nearly 2 years old now and it is wonderful. My mattress, snugglemate,and latex slats offer a firm but very cuddly nights sleep. The wool bed is always the right temperature, and my arms and legs don’t go numb while I sleep. I love that I can take the bed layers apart to sun them and refresh them. We finally took the plunge this year and bought the 5″ mattress to replace an organic latex mattress that had “cratered” (that was an expensive mistake). The quality of the construction on this mattress is just fantastic! And it is quite heavy — make sure you have some help to get it onto your bed! It’s very, very firm, which is what we were looking, but we found that it works best for us paired with the latex strips and the wool topper. Without the latex strips, we can feel the wood slats of our bed through the mattress. With the strips, it’s perfect! I love the modularity of this system — you can swap out layers until you get to “just right.”

In the spirit of Goldilocks I tried many options for a “green” sleep system. I love my new wool pillows, comforter, topper and mattress. I could feel the slats from the wood frame through the 5″ mattress so I added 3″ of latex on the slats. Now my bed is cozy, cuddly and just right !!!

I’m giving this 4 stars because this mattress really does require a different understanding of how a bed goes together than most people in the US have. It’s part of a SYSTEM, the bed is like a layer cake, not a single, encased solution like a Serta you might buy elsewhere. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t QUITE get this when it first arrived. Alone, on the slats, this bed is much too firm for me (and probably MOST people.) But, this mattress really isn’t the only layer on the bed, nor should it be. We started out with the recommended layers — good wooden slats, 5″ mattress, snugglemate. This was snugly, but did not have quite enough depth and we were bottoming out (the snugglemate doesn’t really add depth to sink into). We put our old foam mattress underneath the mattress and the snugglemate. That was better, but too squashy. Took off the snugglemate. Just right. In the future, when I find myself with some extra change, I’d like to replace the foam layer with a second wool bed — the 4inch I think. As part of a modular system, this is an EXCELLENT layer, well made, comfortable and stink-free. But it’s not a whole solution, straight out of the box. Be prepared to fiddle. Once you get it right, it is really, really worth the effort and patience.

I have purchased a King bed frame, latex for the slats, a wool mattress and two snuggle mates, that was 10 years ago and I still love my bed very much. not too soft, not too hard just perfect for a great night sleep or just laying on it watching TV. The two snuggle mates needed a new cover after a few years, I shipped them to Shepherds Dream and they were very helpful putting on new covers. Best investment I’ve ever made. Best bed I have ever slept and played in……

My husband and I absolutely LOVE this mattress. It is nice and firm but still soft enough to be very comfortable. The best investment ever! Worth every penny. We also like that you can roll it up, we have King size one so if you are moving it would be much easier to move it.

This is a great solution for comfortable sleep! I can’t recommend it enough. If you sleep warm it will keep you cool, but if you sleep cool it will keep you warm. It’s easy to pack up and move, and even easier to care for. Well made. It will last!
