Grassroots Giving: Be a Part of Luke’s Independence! 1

With your help, from June 1 to June 15, Shepherd’s Dream is supporting Ashland, Oregon native Luke Hogan Laurenson in his quest to enter the world with more mobility and opportunity. His family is raising money for a wheeled chair-accessible travel van to give Luke more freedom and the ability to reach more people with his inspiring message. Let’s meet him!

Luke’s Story

Luke was born with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. The neurological disorder affects muscle tone and mobility, and along with a speech disorder known as dysarthria, doctors at the time weren’t optimistic for his long-term prognosis. But Luke has made it his life’s mission to exceed those expectations and to show the world what’s possible.

From as early as 6 months old, he has been undergoing neuromotor therapy to aid with neuroplasticity and help him develop his movement skills. With incremental steps forward, he was able to walk—and even dance!—independently for the first time when he was 12.

Now he’s 18 and finishing his senior year at Ashland High School with a 4.0 GPA, and he’s looking forward to his bright future. The equipped van will go a long way toward helping Luke spread his message to high schoolers and other public speaking outlets. He hopes to continue his acting and modeling efforts to show the world that differently-abled people can follow their dreams too. And on top of all that, he and his mother, Jane, are in the process of starting a nonprofit, Luke’s Angels, to raise money and awareness for differently-abled kids and their goals.

Clearly, Luke is going places—and hopefully he’ll be going in his new fully equipped van! And we’re so grateful for any help you can provide.

From now until June 15, Shepherd’s Dream will be donating 2% of sales to Luke’s campaign.

If now isn’t the time for you to buy our bedding products, please consider donating directly to Luke’s cause through his GoFundMe campaign
