Shepherd’s Dream’s Farm-to-Bed Ethos
Our Farm-to-Bedroom Ethos begins, literally, with the roots of the grass our wool sheep eat. Then we build a solid foundation from which to grow. The way we do business is a reflection of our values, and we’re helping to set the standard for what a successful, truly sustainable business looks like. It’s an honor and a privilege.
Earth-Based Materials— This includes humanely-raised sheep on ranches just a few hours away. No harm comes to them during shearing, and the wool is processed without any chemicals. We also use cotton and natural latex, all sourced sustainably.
Earth & Human Health— Our planet, ourselves. Our all-natural sleep environments provide relief for those with allergies, chemical sensitivities, and chronic sleep troubles. Our practices work with Mother Nature, helping us keep chemicals out of waterways and mattresses out of landfills. Coincidence? We think not.
Fanatical Regionalism— We love our home region, and the more we can concentrate our business efforts here, the more our local economy benefits. It has the lovely side effect of reducing our carbon hoofprint.
Fair Exchange— While the world has gotten fast and cheap, we prefer to do business the old-fashioned way. We support a strong local economy and human-scale cottage industry by paying fair prices to farmers and fair wages for skilled labor.
Sustainable Credibility— We’re not in it just for the pretty badges, but we’re excited to be a Green America® Certified Business and carry numerous certifications for our products, including The Global Organic Textile Standard and Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
Consistent Accountability— We don’t rest on our laurels around here! We reuse boxes, buy 100% post-consumer waste paper, recycle or reuse everything we can, use energy-efficient everything—even our hand soap is organic!
